World Hepatitis Day 2026 – Get Tested, Protect Your Liver

World Hepatitis Day is observed every year on July 28 to raise awareness about hepatitis, a group of infectious diseases that attack the liver, and to promote testing and prevention for all five types of the disease: A, B, C, D, and E. The date was chosen to commemorate the birthday of Baruch Samuel Blumberg, the American physician who discovered hepatitis B in the 1960s and later won the Nobel Prize for his work on the virus and its vaccine. Hepatitis remains a major global health threat. Nearly 354 million people worldwide are affected by hepatitis B or C, and hundreds of thousands of lives are lost each year. Many people are unaware they are living with the virus until it causes severe complications such as liver cirrhosis or cancer. This year’s global conversation is shaped by the urgency of staying on track for the 2030 hepatitis elimination goal, calling for “Elimination for everyone, everywhere, right now.” YakestelkomRri
The good news: effective vaccines exist for hepatitis A and B, and hepatitis C can be cured with proper treatment. Klinik Pratama Bali Sehat encourages everyone to get tested, especially if you have never been screened for hepatitis before. Early detection saves the liver — and saves lives.
