Every year on June 1st, Indonesia commemorates the birth of Pancasila, the nation’s five founding principles that have guided the country since its independence. First proclaimed by Sukarno in 1945, Pancasila embodies the values of belief in one God, just and civilized humanity, the unity of Indonesia, democracy guided by wisdom, and social justice for all. This national commemoration is not only a moment of historical reflection, but also a call to action to live out these values in our daily lives, strengthen social harmony, and uphold the spirit of unity in diversity (Bhinneka Tunggal Ika) that defines the Indonesian identity.
