WHO \nThis year\, Italy will host the global celebrations through its National Blood Centre in Rome. VEDANTU \nBlood donation sustains life every single day. It is vital for surgeries\, childbirth complications\, cancer treatments\, and trauma care. In low-income countries\, women and children bear the heaviest cost — blood is critical for treating postpartum haemorrhage\, severe childhood anaemia\, and sickle cell disease. VEDANTUAwareness Days \nThe date of June 14 was chosen to coincide with the birthday of Karl Landsteiner\, whose discovery of the ABO blood group system made blood transfusions safer and more effective.
